Responsibilities
Grievance Management and Arbitration
  • Manage a high volume of grievance files from initiation through resolution or arbitration.
  • Build cases from A to Z: fact analysis, evidence gathering, witness preparation, legal research, and development of arguments.
  • Present and defend the employer’s position before arbitrators and, when required, before quasi-judicial bodies (e.g., federal administrative tribunals, commissions).
  • Ensure thorough follow-up on decisions, recommendations, and post-arbitration measures.
Union Relations and Dispute Prevention
  • Interact regularly with experienced union representatives.
  • Lead discussions proactively to promote negotiated settlements.
  • Advise HR teams and managers on the interpretation and application of collective agreements.
  • Participate in the strategic analysis of cases with relevant stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the harmonization of practices and knowledge sharing within the Labour Relations team.
  • Support strategic thinking related to labour relations and risk management.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations or Human Resources.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant labour relations experience, ideally in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and presenting arbitration cases.
  • Strong knowledge of collective agreements, the Canada Labour Code, and related case law.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) required, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure with rigor and composure.

Assets
  • CRIA and/or CRHA designation.
  • Experience in collective bargaining or mediation.
  • Confidence and strong presence in hearings.
